Importance and Benefits of Omega 3 for Skin Care
Omega 3 is important for the skin’s benefit. This is because Omega 3 can help to reduce the skin problem that many people are facing. From acnes to eczema, Omega 3 benefits our skin through its healing properties. There are 3 types of Omega 3 fatty acids. They are the ALA (Alpha linolenic acid) which is commonly found in dark leafy green vegetables and algae, the EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) which is commonly found in oily fish such as tuna, salmon, herring and anchovies.
Omega 3 benefits us in terms of skin care as it helps us in the fight for anti aging. EPA helps to fight the production of bad AA (Arachidonic acid which promotes wrinkles and lost of collagen). Apart from that, it also helps the production of good AA which is much needed for the formation and maintenance of collagen and elastin.
Apart from that, Omega 3 makes our skin more healthy looking because it promotes healthy cell membranes which can hold the moisture in the skin. EPA is also known for its an anti-inflammatory properties. It is know to help reduce inflammation which causes skin problems like itching, eczema, psoriasis, rashes and many more. EPA can also help curb the production of androgens which produces sebum in the hair follicle which in return helps reduce acne.
However, there are concerns about fish being contaminated with heavy metals like mercury so another option would be to taken Omega 3 capsules in supplements instead.
