What is Eczema

Eczema is a skin disorder that is characterized by dryness, itching and blistering redness on skin. Eczema affects both children and adults and are suspected to be hereditary although there are no genetic links know yet. Til today, there is no known cure of eczema and treatments are available for both internally and external.

Eczema is usually worsen when unconscious scratching happens which leads to bleeding and increased inflammation. Dermatologist often prescribe steroid ointments to be used on inflamed skin and sometimes oral antibiotics are given to combat bacterial and anti-histamines to reduce itching.

Eczema can generally be classified into a few types. The more commonly seen eczema skin symptoms are atopoic eczema. Atopic eczema is a condition that affects infants and children and although many children outgrow these symptoms.

Most common type of eczema is the atopic eczema, a condition that often effects children and infants. Varicose eczema, on the other hand is a skin condition that appears after age of 30 years old. This problem is where the blood circulation on the legs have problem.

Atopic dermatitis is another common type of eczema where allergies are often the cause. Contact dermatitis is also another type of eczema where it is related to environmental irritants.
